I'm a dork

So a guilty pleasure of mine is the song "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter. I don't change the channel when it comes. I am, in fact, a dork.

The 4th & 5th verses to "Pharoah, Pharoah"...as if anyone cares...

A few months later we decided to stop,
Moses climbed up on the mountaintop,
So we pitched our tents and set up our cots,
And Moses came back with lots of 'Thou Shalt Nots'

Forty years later, it's comin' to an end;
The promised land was just around the bend.
So Moses climbed up on the mountainside,
And after he saw it, ol' Moses died.

Typical too

Big Boats

So...our family's cottage @ Harsen's Island is probably my favorite and most naturally beautiful place on earth that I've been to.

There are quite a few features that make it particularly unique one of which is the fact that Great Lakes freighters & ocean liners pass in front. Having grown up w/ these beasts we were schooled in the beauty of them though they are dirty masses of steel and equipment. In any case...I have a tremendous appreciation for beauties like these.

Ahh...Vacation

Ordinary Things

"...as you grow older you will discover that the most important things that will happen to you will often come as a result of silly things, as you call them - 'ordinary things' is a better expression. That is the way the world is."

Buy This Record

This album is good. Really good.

Like this album will give you the chills good.
Like the Beach Boys on Percocet and Wilco-pills good.
Like childhood springtime heartache good.

I mean really, really good.

Couple Random Finds

(1) Goyte | Scotty's probably been listening to these cats since before they existed but they seem pretty wicked cool. Someone want to buy me an iTunes card so I can buy this and a couple other albums I've been jonesin' to buy? Oh. Wait. He's not on iTunes. LISTEN HERE

(2) A Tale of Two Tomatos | I'm a communication/word nerd and this is a great little blog post by Kem Meyer from Granger Community Church about subtle communication choices made by organizations. She's worth adding to your blog roll if you don't read her stuff already. Posts are pithy and helpful and entertaining.

long tall texans

austin is damn hot.

it is also damn cool. dylan cool.

austin is home to the world's largest urban bat colony.

every night 1.5 million bats come out of the congress street bridge in downtown austin at dusk and go a-hunting. sabrina and i sat next to the bridge last night and watched them take over the sky, as we got pelted with occasional bat drips and droppings. it was amazing.

now...to the bat cave!
