A Family of Worms
Finally, Real Punishment
Colorado Judge Paul Sacco, fed up with repeatedly seeing the same people in his courtroom for violating noise ordinances, is now forcing repeat offenders to listen to an hour's worth of Barry Manilow or the theme song from Barney & Friends. The fines weren't working, he reasoned, so Sacco figured maybe an hour's worth of "I love you, you love me..." at high volume might make these nefarious noisemakers change their ways. "This is a way...of teaching manners to people," the judge told Reuters.

Used/New to Us Rainbow Swingset
Discussing this with a friend @ church led her to email her neighborhood listserve with the offer to find a good home for an old playset, free labor to haul it away, etc. Two hits immediately..
To make a long story even longer that's how we got this playset!
And a word to you naysayers who thought or said it would be too difficult: you underestimate the ferrys & their friends!
We took it apart, moved & reassembled it in under 5 hours, hauling it with a mini van & a pick up truck.
I hope I never cease to be amazed by people's generosity. What would life be like if we all shared & redistributed stuff like this to people who could use it? Bad for the economy, probably, good for soul & community.

Bed Time w/ the Babysitter
Babysitter: "Meka, what's wrong."
Meka: "I'm hungry. I want a waffle. Cold."
Babysitter: "Let me warm it up just a little. It's frozen."
Meka: (insert freak out here)
Babysitter: "Fine. Here it is."
Meka eats the frozen waffle...frozen...then goes right to sleep.
My New-to-me/Used Bike
I put my Specialized gel seat from my mountain bike on it, assuming I will be riding this cat more (the Rockhopper will be the family bike ride rickshaw towing machine) & I got a couple toe things for the pedals. The frame might be a bit too small but hey...who cares for this price.
And the guy I bought it from is named Favian. So that's cool.

Cooking Guinea Pigs?
The lesson for your church? It's probably not a good idea to encourage parishioners to eat things that are cute, cuddly and generally considered pets.

Christ the Lord?
If there is anything certain about us, it is that we would never of ourselves choose a Lord who is Lord without our consent and in opposition to our will. We would not mind so much to have a lord we ourselves could make or unmake, who owed his lordship to our election, for that would leave us our feeling of power and control. But to have a Lord I did not help to make, who is not responsible to me but to whom I am responsible - that offends my pride, cancels my right to judge and decide, and denies my ability, my competence to know and choose my way and control my destiny. It cuts me down to my proper size, and I do not like it at first. Yet I am so diminished if he is thus exalted. No lesser Christ can be the Lord of Christian faith. Only on these terms can I deal with a Christ whom God has made Lord."

Psalm 13
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?
Look on me and answer, O Lord my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death;
my enemy will say, "I have overcome him,"
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.
BUT I trust in Your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord,
for He has been good to me.
